Weekly update - 7 October 2024


DEVLOG.

First things first, what changed on FIENDRISE:

  • Reworked Wraith Knight into a combo unit: each ability gives an empower to the main skill, Blade Nova, to make the kit more cohesive and overall more fun;
  • Neofiend's main ability, Laser Beam, has now an Evolution: upon reaching X POWER, it summons another Laser Beam which does a full rotation. I might add a full pierce effect to this ability because it does still feel a bit weak;
  • New game mode planning and coding (DUNGEON, not yet in the DEMO): you explore a dungeon, equipped with a Wisp which is a friendly NPC that provides lightning, for loot such as coins and unlockables (such as new playable fiends). This is not supposed to be the main game mode of FIENDRISE, but just a minigame to offer a break from the core gameplay, as it offers a less chaotic gameplay;
  • Enemy spawn management adjustments;
  • Reworked first stage (Ruins)'s boss encounter;
  • Reworked UI for the Fiend Selection Screen;
  • New stages planning (not yet in the DEMO);
  • A lot of bugfixing;

I wish I had more time to code, however I had to learn how to make trailers because the game was still missing one, so 1 day (and a half) was completely devoted to learning imovie and make a 60 sec gameplay trailer. It wasn't easy but it had to be done 🫡, you can check the video here.

Other than that, been working on getting a Steam page up for the game, so lots of screenshots and research. 

As for every devlog, the playable DEMO has been updated, you can download it for free here.
